About
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is a unique combination of dance, combat, music, culture and acrobatics. Capoeira originates from the enslaved Africans in Brazil and has gone from being outlawed in Brazil in the 19th century to becoming officially recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Today, capoeira is taught and practiced in many countries throughout the world.
Herança Cultural Capoeira (HCC) was founded in 1991 by Mestre Catitu in Guarulhos, SP, Brazil. Today, the group is represented in over 10 countries, with Anderson Pereira Goes, a.k.a. Boneco, representing HCC in Austin. Boneco is originally from São Paulo, Brazil and has been practicing capoeira for 30 years.
